Writer Pearl Buck once called New York City “a place apart,” and this giant urban center remains unlike any other in the world.
Kids will appreciate attractions like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Goldsmith's Inlet. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum and Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park. Change things up with a short trip to Southold Historical Society in Southold (about 2 hours away). There's lots more to do: go for a walk through Central Park, wander the streets of Times Square, get a new perspective on nature at American Museum of Natural History, and appreciate the history behind 9/11 Memorial.

Fly from Boston to New York City in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a train. In June, plan for daily highs up to 80°F, and evening lows to 65°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 27th (Thu) early enough to catch the train to Philadelphia.

Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Independence Hall and Speed Boats Tours. Do some cultural sightseeing at Philadelphia Museum of Art and Barnes Foundation. Venture out of the city with trips to Brandywine River Museum of Art (in Chadds Ford), Longwood Gardens (in Kennett Square) and Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library (in Winterthur).
