You can drive from San Francisco to South Lake Tahoe in 3.5 hours. Other options are to do a combination of flight and bus; or do a combination of train, flight, and bus. When traveling from San Francisco in June, plan for somewhat warmer days in South Lake Tahoe, with highs around 77°F, while nights are a bit cooler with lows around 41°F.
