Although urban sprawl remains synonymous with Houston, most of the city's tourist attractions lie within the relatively small downtown area, surrounded by diverse neighborhoods housing the nation's biggest African-American, Asian-American, and Latino communities.
Appreciate the collections at Space Center Houston and The Houston Museum of Natural Science. Attractions like Houston Zoo and Kemah Boardwalk make great kid-friendly stops. When in Houston, make a side trip to see Mercer Arboretum & Botanic Gardens in Humble, approximately 30 minutes away. Next up on the itinerary: explore and take pictures at Minute Maid Park, get a sense of history and politics at City Hall, contemplate the long history of Sam Houston Park, and make a trip to Water Wall.
