Known for its Creole cuisine, rich musical tradition, and nearby swamps and plantations, New Orleans is one of the nation's oldest cities.
Appreciate the collections at The National WWII Museum and Whitney Plantation. Head to Royal Street and Magazine Streetfor plenty of shopping. You'll find plenty of places to visit near New Orleans: Global Wildlife Center (in Folsom), Houmas House Plantation and Gardens (in Darrow) and Mandeville Trailhead Cultural Interpretive Center (in Mandeville). Spend the 1st (Mon) exploring nature at Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve.
