Satisfy your inner culture vulture at The Strip and The Mob Museum. Get in touch with nature at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and Lake Mead National Recreation Area. There's still lots to do: enjoy some music at Bellagio Fountains, try your luck at Bellagio Hotel and Casino, see the interesting displays at Pinball Hall of Fame, and get engrossed in the history at Titanic.

Surrounded by mountain ranges, forests, valleys, beaches, and deserts, the metropolitan area of Los Angeles is home to over 17 million people.
Take a break from the city and head to Venice Beach and Boardwalk and Santa Monica Beach. Do some cultural sightseeing at Santa Monica Pier and The Getty Center. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Los Angeles: Santa Monica (Santa Monica Farmers Market & Montana Avenue). There's much more to do: get a taste of the local shopping with Abbot Kinney Boulevard, get to know the fascinating history of Venice Canals Walkway, don't miss a visit to Hollywood Walk of Fame, and appreciate the history behind Guitar Center.

Although urban sprawl remains synonymous with Houston, most of the city's tourist attractions lie within the relatively small downtown area, surrounded by diverse neighborhoods housing the nation's biggest African-American, Asian-American, and Latino communities.
Escape the urban bustle at St Francis Wolf Sanctuary and Water Wall. Get some cultural insight at George Ranch Historical Park and The Houston Museum of Natural Science. Change things up with a short trip to Houston Premium Outlets in Cypress (about 36 minutes away). There's lots more to do: tee off at Hermann Park, admire the masterpieces at Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, tour the pleasant surroundings at Cockrell Butterfly Center, and admire nature's wide array of creatures at Houston Zoo.

Getting from Los Angeles to Houston by flight takes about 6 hours. Other options: drive; or take a bus. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 2 hours traveling from Los Angeles to Houston. Expect a bit warmer temperatures when traveling from Los Angeles in August; daily highs in Houston reach 41°C and lows reach 29°C.
