Despite its laid-back college vibe, Austin is an influential center for politics, technology, film, and music.
Get in touch with nature at Congress Avenue Bridge / Austin Bats and Hamilton Pool Preserve. Your inner history buff will appreciate Texas State Capitol and Sitagu Buddha Vihara. Get out of town with these interesting Austin side-trips: George Bush Presidential Library and Museum (in College Station), Messina Hof Winery (in Bryan) and New Braunfels (New Braunfels, Landa Park, &more). Kick off your visit on the 22nd (Mon): wander the streets of Sundance Square, then get to know the fascinating history of Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District, and then learn about winemaking at Times Ten Cellars Fort Worth. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 23rd (Tue): play a few rounds at Sugar Tree Golf Course and then take in nature's colorful creations at Fort Worth Botanic Garden.

Situated where the Rio Grande River takes a big southerly dip in West Texas, Big Bend National Park covers a massive expanse of desert, woodlands, and grasslands full of rivers, limestone canyons, and high mountains. Nearly 2,000 species of plant and animal life call this place home.
Boquillas Canyon has been added to your itinerary. Kick off your visit on the 24th (Wed): take in breathtaking views at Boquillas Canyon, then make a trip to Abandoned Contrabando Movie Set, then see a world frozen in time at Terlingua, and finally hike along The Window Trail. Keep things going the next day: hike along Lost Mine Trail and then take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Chisos Mountains.

Traveling by combination of flight and car from Fort Worth to Big Bend National Park takes 8.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive. Traveling from Fort Worth in April, you will find days in Big Bend National Park are somewhat warmer (87°F), and nights are about the same (59°F). Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 26th (Fri) to allow time for the car ride to Fredericksburg.
