The capital of the United States, the District of Columbia contains the lion's share of the country's most treasured monuments, memorials, and public museums.
Kids will appreciate attractions like National Zoological Park and National Air and Space Museum. Head to Fell's Point and Eastern Marketfor plenty of shopping. Go for a jaunt from Washington DC to Baltimore to see Horseshoe Casino about 1 hour away. There's lots more to do: explore the activities along Tidal Basin, appreciate the history behind Washington Monument, steep yourself in history at Audubon Naturalist Society Woodend Sanctuary, and hike along U.S. National Arboretum.

Writer Pearl Buck once called New York City “a place apart,” and this giant urban center remains unlike any other in the world.
Get in touch with nature at Gateway National Recreation and Bayard Cutting Arboretum. Shop till you drop at Fifth Avenue and SoHo. Go for a jaunt from New York City to Bronx to see Bronx Zoo about 36 minutes away. There's still lots to do: don't miss a visit to Times Square, appreciate the history behind 9/11 Memorial, wander the streets of Wall Street, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Central Park Zoo.
