The glaciers from which Glacier National Park takes its name mostly dissipated eons ago, but they left behind a scoured landscape of high and steep mountain peaks, sparkling lakes, lush alpine meadows, and thick forests.
Take a break from the city and head to St. Mary Lake and River Rafting & Tubing. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Iceberg Lake Trail and Garden Wall. Step out of Glacier National Park to go to Coram and see Glacier Distilling Company, which is approximately 56 minutes away. There's lots more to do: hike along Highline Trail, cruise along Going-to-the-Sun Road, and take in the dramatic natural features at Grinnell Glacier.

The Jackson Hole valley is approximately 97 km (60 mi) long and 24 km (15 mi) wide, encompassing the town of Jackson, Teton Village, and the northern section of Grand Teton National Park.
Mormon Row Historic District and Chapel of the Transfiguration are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Step out of the city life by going to Cascade Canyon Trail and Inspiration Point. Change things up with a short trip to Grand Targhee Ski Resort in Alta (about 42 minutes away). There's much more to do: make a trip to Oxbow Bend, take in the exciting artwork at Mangelsen Images of Nature, and cruise along Moose Wilson Road.
