Ponce is both a city and a municipality in the southern part of Puerto Rico. Kids will appreciate attractions like Horseback Riding Tours and Museo Castillo Serralles. Step out of Ponce with an excursion to Aventura Cueva Ventana in Arecibo--about 1h 10 min away. There's much more to do: admire the masterpieces at Museo de Arte de Ponce, see the interesting displays at Parque de Bombas, take in the spiritual surroundings of Cathedral of our Lady of Guadaloupe, and take in the exciting artwork at Centro Cultural Carmen Sola de Pereira de Ponce.

For sixty years until 2003, most of the Isla de Vieques was closed off to the public, with the US Navy using the island's beaches and surrounding waters for drills and testing of new military machinery, such as bombs.
