Spartanburg is the largest city in and the county seat of Spartanburg County, South Carolina, United States, and the 12th-largest city by population in the state. Head to O.P. Taylor's and Heartwood Contemporary Crafts Galleryfor some retail therapy. The Children's Museum of the Upstate and BMW Zentrum will appeal to museum buffs. Get out of town with these interesting Spartanburg side-trips: Highlands (The Bascom, Dry Falls, & more), Walhalla (Oconee History Museum & Stumphouse Mountain Tunnel) and Greenville (GHS Swamp Rabbit Trail, Upcountry History Museum, & more). Spend the 18th (Tue) exploring nature at Kings Mountain National Military Park. There's still lots to do: take in the dramatic scenery at DuPont State Recreational Forest, steep yourself in history at Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site, explore the striking landscape of Cowpens National Battlefield, and explore the striking landscape at Sliding Rock.
