A big city with a small-town feel, Portland is home to the country's biggest rose test garden, perched on a hill overlooking downtown.
Get some historical perspective at The Grotto - National Sanctuary of Our Sorrowful Mother and Columbia Hills State Park. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Multnomah Falls and Ecola State Park. Get out of town with these interesting Portland side-trips: Astoria Column (in Astoria), Cannon Beach (Haystack Rock & Cannon Beach) and Seaside Candyman (in Seaside).
