Known for its Creole cuisine, rich musical tradition, and nearby swamps and plantations, New Orleans is one of the nation's oldest cities.
Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Laura Plantation: Louisiana's Creole Heritage Site and Houmas House Plantation and Gardens. Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at Royal Street and Frenchmen Street. Venture out of the city with trips to Nature & Wildlife Tours (in Slidell) and Whitney Plantation (in Edgard).
