Towering cliffs of red, white, and pink Navajo sandstone, stream-carved slot canyons, and big blue sky all characterize Zion National Park.
Get in touch with nature at The Narrows and Zion-Mt. Carmel Highway. Change things up with a short trip to Buffalo Trails Trading Company in Virgin (about 40 minutes away). Spend the 21st (Mon) exploring nature at Canyon Overlook Trail. There's still lots to do: get great views at Observation Point.

You can find hoodoos--rock pillars formed by erosion--all around the world, but those of Bryce Canyon National Park remain the standard bearers thanks to their bright red color, tall stature, and arrangement in large amphitheaters.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Fairyland Loop Trail and Queen's Garden Trail. Get in touch with nature at Peek-A-Boo Loop and Sunset Point. Next up on the itinerary: trek along Navajo Loop Trail and take some stellar pictures from Paria View.

Drive from Cedar City to Bryce Canyon National Park in 2 hours. Prepare for a bit cooler weather when traveling from Cedar City in October: high temperatures in Bryce Canyon National Park hover around 61°F and lows are around 29°F. Kick off your visit on the 28th (Mon): look for gifts at Ruby's Inn General Store, then immerse yourself in nature at Kodachrome Basin State Park, and then cruise along Highway 12 Scenic Byway.
