Named for the restorative mineral springs in the area, Saratoga Springs began its life as a resort town.

Start off your visit on the 17th (Fri): take in the pleasant sights at Ulysses S. Grant Cottage National Historic Landmark, then look for gifts at Hat Sational, then immerse yourself in nature at Saratoga Spa State Park, and finally walk around Congress Park. On the next day, get engrossed in the history at USS Slater DE-766, learn more about the world around you at New York State Museum, and then try your luck at Saratoga Race Course.
