Atlanta

The Capital of the South

Georgia’s largest city and capital, Atlanta is a thriving metropolis anchored by its southern roots.
Visiting Red Top Mountain State Park and Sweetwater Creek State Park will get you outdoors. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Margaret Mitchell House and Ebenezer Baptist Church of Atlanta. Change things up with these side-trips from Atlanta: Big Creek Greenway (in Cumming), Booth Western Art Museum (in Cartersville) and Bulloch Hall (in Roswell). Dedicate the 24th (Fri) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. Next up on the itinerary: stop by Krog Street Market, explore the landscape on two wheels at Golf Cart Paths, wander the streets of Virginia-Highland, and admire the masterpieces at Michael C. Carlos Museum.
