There's still lots to do: get engrossed in the history at National Ranching Heritage Center, examine the collection at Museum of Texas Tech University, appreciate the history behind Lubbock Veterans Memorial, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Prairie Dog Town.

New Braunfels

— 13 nights

Neu-Braunfels

Built upon the back of an older cotton-producing town called Gruene, New Braunfels pays tribute to its heritage by maintaining part of the historical town--its post office, general store, and dance hall among other buildings--inside the city limits.
Get out of town with these interesting New Braunfels side-trips: Gonzales (Texas Heroes Square & Palmetto State Park), Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church (in Shiner) and Splashway Waterpark (in Sheridan). There's lots more to do: cool off at Schlitterbahn Waterpark New Braunfels, take in the dramatic natural features at Enchanted Rock State Natural Area, see a world frozen in time at Gruene Historic District, and stroll through Landa Falls.
