Get a sense of the local culture at Museo de Arte de Ponce and Sitio Histórico de San Juan. Bring the kids along to Luquillo Beach and Condado Beach. When in San Juan, make a side trip to see Scuba & Snorkeling in Fajardo, approximately 1h 15 min away. With much of Culebra a nature refuge, the tropical island has been protected from overdevelopment, chain hotels, and the cruise set.
Museo Historico de Culebra and Culebrita Lighthouse are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Visit Zoni Beach and Brava Beach for some beach relaxation. There's lots more to do: kick back and relax at Flamenco Beach, glide peacefully along the water with some of the best stand-up paddleboarding in the area, tour the pleasant surroundings at Playa Punta Soldado Beach, and head off the coast to Culebrita Island.

For sixty years until 2003, most of the Isla de Vieques was closed off to the public, with the US Navy using the island's beaches and surrounding waters for drills and testing of new military machinery, such as bombs.
Your inner history buff will appreciate Puerto Ferro Lighthouse and El Hombre de Puerto Ferro. You'll get in some beach time at Sun Bay and Caracas Beach.
