Step out of Fredericksburg with an excursion to Calais Winery in Hye--about 34 minutes away. There's still lots to do: learn about all things military at National Museum of the Pacific War, pause for some serene contemplation at St. Mary's Catholic Church, look for gifts at Fischer & Wieser's Das Peach Haus, and steep yourself in history at Admiral Nimitz State Historic Site.
