Get out of town with these interesting Denver side-trips: St Mary's Glacier (in Idaho Springs) and Roxborough State Park (in Littleton). Part of Colorado's Royal Gorge Region, Cañon City straddles the Arkansas River.
Kick off your visit on the 7th (Thu): hike along Tunnel Drive and then let the river carry you with a rafting and tubing tour. On the next day, identify plant and animal life at Mission: Wolf and then explore the historical opulence of Bishop Castle.
