Known as the "Venice of America" because of its extensive network of navigable waterways, Fort Lauderdale welcomes over 10 million annual visitors, most of them attracted by the city's popular beaches and marinas.
Get out of town with these interesting Fort Lauderdale side-trips: Panther Ridge Conservation Center (in Wellington), Spas (in Palm Beach) and Cypress Outdoor Adventures (in Everglades Wildlife Management Area). There's much more to do: get outside with JP Outfitters Inc., test your team's savvy at popular escape rooms, examine the collection at International Swimming Hall of Fame, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Fort Lauderdale Beach.

For most people, any mention of Orlando immediately conjures up images of sprawling theme parks filled with characters plucked right out of popular animated movies.
Change things up with a short trip to Room Escape Games in Kissimmee (about 34 minutes away). Pack the 28th (Wed) with family-friendly diversions at Universal's Islands of Adventure. Have a day of magic on the 30th (Fri) at Walt Disney World Resort. Separated by water from the neighboring city of Miami, Miami Beach sits on a barrier island between Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.

Prepare for somewhat warmer weather when traveling from Orlando in January: high temperatures in Miami Beach hover around 29°C and lows are around 20°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 7th (Sat) so you can fly back home.
