Big Pineapple

In many ways much more Asian than American, Honolulu is Hawaii's largest city and its center of government, transportation, commerce, and tourism.
Step out of the city life by going to Diamond Head State Monument and Kailua Beach Park. You'll enjoy a bit of beach vacationing at Waikiki Beach and Lanikai Beach. Change things up with these side-trips from Honolulu: Haleiwa (Sunset Beach Park, Waimea Bay, &more), Pu’u O Mahuka Heiau State Monument (in Pupukea) and Swim with Dolphins (in Waianae). Next up on the itinerary: identify plant and animal life at Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve, stroll the grounds of USS Arizona Memorial, step aboard Battleship Missouri Memorial, and take in the dramatic scenery at Manoa Falls.

For photos, maps, and tourist information, read Honolulu planner.
