One of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the country, Tucson is a city on a cultural crossroads, with European, Native American, Mexican, and Asian residents blending and sometimes conflicting with one another.
Start off your visit on the 3rd (Sun): buy something for everyone on your list at Old Town Artisans and then admire nature's wide array of creatures at Funny Foot Farm and Tucson Petting Zoo. On your second day here, take in the history at Mission San Xavier del Bac, get a new perspective on nature at Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, and then get great views at Gates Pass.

Chicago to Tucson is an approximately 6.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and shuttle; or drive. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 1 hour traveling from Chicago to Tucson. Prepare for much warmer weather when traveling from Chicago in February: high temperatures in Tucson hover around 70°F and lows are around 44°F. Phoenix is the capital and most populous city of the U.S. Do your shopping at Old Town Scottsdale and Chandler Fashion Center. Museum-lovers will get to explore Musical Instrument Museum and Desert Botanical Garden. Get out of town with these interesting Phoenix side-trips: Sibley's West: The Chandler and Arizona Gift Shop (in Chandler), Happy Adobe (in Florence) and Boyce Thompson Arboretum (in Superior). Despite its relatively small size, Sedona overflows with tourist appeal.
Head to Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village and Center for the New Agefor some retail therapy. There's much more to do: soothe aching muscles at some of the top local wellness centers, take in the spiritual surroundings of Chapel of the Holy Cross, take in breathtaking views at Oak Creek Canyon, and look for gifts at The Hike House.

You can drive from Phoenix to Sedona in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of flight and taxi; or take a shuttle. Traveling from Phoenix in February, things will get little chillier in Sedona: highs are around 60°F and lows about 41°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 14th (Thu) to allow time to drive to Williams.

A tiny town with big tourist appeal, Williams lies on one of the first highways ever built in America, the iconic "Route 66." The town boasts many inns, motels, restaurants, and shops, although its most important feature is serving as the southern terminus of a scenic railway leading to the area's most famous tourist attraction, the World Heritage-listed Grand Canyon.
On the 15th (Fri), take an in-depth tour of Ash Fork Historical Society Museum, then play a few rounds at Elephant Rocks at Williams, and then admire nature's extreme beauty at Painted Desert.

Getting from Sedona to Williams by car takes about 1.5 hours. Other options: take a bus. In February, Williams is slightly colder than Sedona - with highs of 49°F and lows of 23°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 15th (Fri) early enough to drive to Grand Canyon National Park.
