Eschew the tourist crowds and head to El Capitan and Bridalveil Fall. Take a break from the city and head to Olmsted Point and Glacier Point. When in Yosemite National Park, make a side trip to see Bodie State Historic Park in Bridgeport, approximately Bridgeport away. Monterey is a city in the U.S. Casa Serrano, Historic Adobe and Venture Gallery are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Escape the urban bustle at Carmel River State Beach and Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail. Get out of town with these interesting Monterey side-trips: Big Sur (Partington Cove & Pfeiffer State Beach). There's still lots to do: explore the activities along Monterey Bay, kick back and relax at Point Lobos, and see majestic marine mammals with a dolphin and whale watching tour.

When you arrive in tiny San Simeon, which lies halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, you can see why William Randolph Hearst chose this coastal locale for his famous hilltop castle.
Step out of the city life by going to Moonstone Beach and Friends of the Elephant Seal. The Old Santa Rosa Creek Chapel and Hearst Castle will appeal to history buffs. When in San Simeon, make a side trip to see Pacific Valley Bluff Trail in Big Sur, approximately Big Sur away. There's still lots to do: look for all kinds of wild species at Piedras Blancas, stroll the grounds of Cambria Cemetery, and learn more about the world around you at Greenspace Creekside Reserve.
