Pittsburgh — 20 nights

City of Bridges

Known primarily for its steel-related heritage and 446 bridges, Pittsburgh sits at the confluence of the Monongahela and Allegheny Rivers, which meet to form the Ohio River.
Bring the kids along to Mount Washington and Duck Tours. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Pittsburgh: West Virginia Independence Hall (in Wheeling), Mill Run (Bear Run Nature Reserve & Fallingwater) and Oakland (Swallow Falls State Park & Deep Creek Lake State Park). On the 18th (Fri), spend a day ambling around Mill Creek Park. There's much more to do: tour the pleasant surroundings at Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, observe the fascinating underwater world at Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium, get to know the resident critters at National Aviary, and see the interesting displays at Bicycle Heaven.
