Start off your visit on the 24th (Sat): appreciate the history behind 9/11 Memorial and then go for a walk through Central Park. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 25th (Sun): make a trip to The Metropolitan Museum of Art, then wander the streets of Times Square, and then make a trip to Empire State Building.

Aptly nicknamed the "Mile-High City," Denver sits at an altitude of 1,600 m (5,280 ft) above sea level, located right where the Great Plains give way to the Rocky Mountains.
Take a break from Denver with a short trip to River Rafting & Tubing in Idaho Springs, about 38 minutes away. There's much more to do: take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mount Evans, wander the streets of 16th Street Mall, admire the masterpieces at Denver Art Museum, and get to know the resident critters at Denver Zoo.

Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 2 hours traveling from Washington DC to Denver. Traveling from Washington DC in August, expect little chillier with lows of 58°F in Denver. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 1st (Sun) to allow time to travel to Las Vegas.
