A town that survives on the sea, Newport's population of just over 10,000 supports a healthy commercial fishing industry.
On the 6th (Sat), immerse yourself in nature at Cape Perpetua Visitor Center - Siuslaw National Forest and then look for all kinds of wild species at Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area. Keep things going the next day: enjoy the sea views from Yaquina Head Lighthouse, enjoy the sand and surf at Devils Punchbowl State Natural Area, and then visit a coastal fixture at Heceta Head Lighthouse.
