Home to nearly half of Alaska's population, the port city of Anchorage covers a staggering area of over 4,900 sq km (1,900 sq mi) surrounded by mountains.
Museum-lovers will get to explore Indian Valley Mine & Gifts and Palmer Visitor Information Center. Get in touch with nature at Crow Pass National Historic Trail and McHugh Creek Day Use Area. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Anchorage: Cooper Landing (Russian River Falls & River Rafting & Tubing), Whittier (Kayaking & Canoeing & Prince William Sound Museum) and Wasilla (Bearpaw River Brewing Company, Wasilla Museum & Visitor Center, & more). Make the 28th (Sun) an awe-inspiring day at Chugach State Park. On the 12th (Mon), dedicate a day to the elevated beauty of Government Peak Recreation Area. There's lots more to do: admire the natural beauty at Alaska Botanical Garden, get curious at Imaginarium Discovery Center, get outside with Mt Baldy, and get a dose of the wild on a nature and wildlife tour.
