Theme Park Capital of the World

For most people, any mention of Orlando immediately conjures up images of sprawling theme parks filled with characters plucked right out of popular animated movies.
Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Queen of the Universe and St. James Catholic Cathedral are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Visiting Boat Tours & Water Sports and Zipline will get you outdoors. Have a day of magic on the 23rd (Sat) at Magic Kingdom Park. In December, Orlando is much warmer than Paris - with highs of 29°C and lows of 17°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 26th (Tue) so you can go by car to Crystal River.

The jewel of Florida's Nature Coast, Crystal River spreads around spring-fed Kings Bay, known for maintaining a constant 22 C (72 F) temperature all year long.

Traveling from Orlando in December, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be a bit cooler in Crystal River, with lows of 13°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 27th (Wed) to allow time to fly to Everglades National Park.

Everglades National Park — 2 nights

Largest Subtropical Wilderness in the United States

A vast expanse of pristine wetlands, Everglades National Park holds the distinction of being the largest tropical wilderness in the U.S. Overflow from Lake Okeechobee into the Florida Bay formed these wetlands, which are home to manatees, American crocodiles, Florida panthers, and an array of wading birds, land birds, and birds of prey.
Kick off your visit on the 28th (Thu): identify plant and animal life at Mahogany Hammock, contemplate the long history of Nike Missile Site HM-69, then look for all kinds of wild species at Anhinga Trail, and finally trek along Gumbo Limbo Trail. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 29th (Fri): take a leisurely stroll along West Lake Trail, then identify plant and animal life at Nine Mile Pond Canoe Trail, and then explore the activities along Slough Slog.

You can fly from Crystal River to Everglades National Park in 3 hours. Other options are to do a combination of bus and train; or take a bus. Traveling from Crystal River in December, things will get a bit warmer in Everglades National Park: highs are around 31°C and lows about 25°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 29th (Fri) to allow time to fly to Key West.

Key West — 4 nights

Conch Republic

Located just 140 km (90 mi) from Cuba, Key West is an island only about 6.4 km (4 mi) long and 1.6 km (1 mi) wide.
Take a break from the city and head to Scuba & Snorkeling and Nancy Forrester's Secret Garden. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Saint Mary Star of the Sea and U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Ingham Maritime Museum. There's lots more to do: take in the architecture and atmosphere at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, take in the pleasant sights at Key West Garden Club, see the interesting displays at The Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum, and get a new perspective on nature at Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center.

Traveling by flight from Everglades National Park to Key West takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or take a bus. In December, daytime highs in Key West are 30°C, while nighttime lows are 25°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 2nd (Tue) so you can drive to Marathon.

Marathon — 4 nights

Heart of the Florida Keys

A tiny city just 16 km (10 mi) long, Marathon is spread across several islands in the middle of the Florida Keys.
Family-friendly places like The Turtle Hospital and Sombrero Beach will thrill your kids. Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Crane Point Museum & Nature Center and EAA Air Museum. Step out of Marathon to go to Big Pine Key and see Blue Hole, which is approximately 36 minutes away. And it doesn't end there: identify plant and animal life at Dolphin Research Center, relax and rejuvenate at some of the top local wellness centers, explore the gorgeous colors at Sombrero Reef, and admire the majestic nature at Curry Hammock State Park.
