Although urban sprawl remains synonymous with Houston, most of the city's tourist attractions lie within the relatively small downtown area, surrounded by diverse neighborhoods housing the nation's biggest African-American, Asian-American, and Latino communities.
Shop till you drop at Copper Shade Tree and Home Sweet Farm Market & Biergarten. Space Center Houston and Messina Hof Winery are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Explore Houston's surroundings by going to Columbia Historical Museum (in West Columbia), Brazosport Museum of Natural Science (in Clute) and Burton (Burton Cotton Gin and Museum & Saddlehorn Winery). There's much more to do: look for all kinds of wild species at Smith Oaks Bird Sanctuary, see the interesting displays at The Houston Museum of Natural Science, steep yourself in history at Saint Anthony Cathedral Basilica, and stop by Nana's Attic.

Writer Pearl Buck once called New York City “a place apart,” and this giant urban center remains unlike any other in the world.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Coffee Pot Cellars Tasting Room and Woodbury Common Premium Outlets. Your cultural itinerary includes sights like Bashakill Vineyards and Fifth Avenue. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around New York City: Paumanok Vineyards (in Aquebogue), Golden Fish Gallery (in Milford) and Callie's Candy Kitchen (in Mountainhome). And it doesn't end there: do a tasting at Blue Ridge Estate Winery, examine the collection at New York Public Library, pause for some serene contemplation at St. Patrick's Cathedral, and wander the streets of SoHo.
