Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve and The Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden at NOMA. Do some cultural sightseeing at Garden District and French Quarter. Lafayette is a city located along the Vermilion River in southwestern Louisiana. Get outdoors at Jungle Gardens and Sabine National Wildlife Refuge. Your cultural itinerary includes sights like Vermilionville and Rip Van Winkle Gardens. Lake Charles is a brackish lake located on the Calcasieu River in Southwest Louisiana, United States, situated almost entirely within the Lake Charles city limits. Take a break from the city and head to Gray Plantation and Creole Nature Trail Adventure Point. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Golden Nugget Casino and L'Auberge du Lac Casino. Step out of Lake Charles to go to Kinder and see Coushatta Casino Resort, which is approximately 50 minutes away. There's still lots to do: brush up on your knowledge of spirits at Bayou Rum Distillery and tee off at The Country Club at the Golden Nugget.
