A tiny city just 16 km (10 mi) long, Marathon is spread across several islands in the middle of the Florida Keys.
Get outdoors at Sombrero Reef and Dolphin Research Center. Attractions like Parasailing & Paragliding and Bahia Honda State Park make great kid-friendly stops. Explore Marathon's surroundings by going to Big Pine Key (Blue Hole, The Big Pine Key Flea Market, & more), Islamorada (Fishing Charters & Tours, Islamorada Beer Company Brewery and Tasting Room, & more) and Boondocks Miniature Golf (in Summerland Key). There's much more to do: identify plant and animal life at Crane Point Museum & Nature Center, enjoy the sand and surf at Sunset Park Beach, take in the views from Seven Mile Bridge, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Sombrero Beach.

Key West

Located just 140 km (90 mi) from Cuba, Key West is an island only about 6.4 km (4 mi) long and 1.6 km (1 mi) wide.
On the 1st (Mon), see the interesting displays at Mel Fisher Maritime Heritage Museum, visit a coastal fixture at Key West Lighthouse and Keeper's Quarters Museum, then identify plant and animal life at Key West Butterfly & Nature Conservatory, and finally glide peacefully along the water with some of the best stand-up paddleboarding in the area. Keep things going the next day: engage your brain at Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center and then paddle through the water with a kayaking and canoeing tour.
