The Big Easy

Known for its Creole cuisine, rich musical tradition, and nearby swamps and plantations, New Orleans is one of the nation's oldest cities.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near New Orleans: Gulfport (Lynn Meadows Discovery Center & Dailey Charters), Saint Rose de Lima Catholic Church (in Bay Saint Louis) and Vacherie (Laura: Louisiana's Creole Heritage Site, Oak Alley Plantation, &more). Spend the 16th (Wed) exploring nature at Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve. There's lots more to do: brush up on your military savvy at The National WWII Museum, appreciate the extensive heritage of Garden District, pause for some serene contemplation at St. Louis Cathedral, and go on a hair-raising tour with a ghost and vampire tour.
