Washburn — 4 nights

Washburn is a city in McLean County, North Dakota, United States. Escape the urban bustle at Audubon National Wildlife Refuge Complex and Fort Stevenson State Park. Step out of Washburn with an excursion to Lake Sakakawea State Park in Mercer--about 44 minutes away. It doesn't end there: get engrossed in the history at The North Dakota Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center and steep yourself in history at Fort Mandan.
