San Antonio

The Alamo City

As the state’s second largest city, San Antonio embodies Texas’ rich cultural heritage while maintaining the Old West charm of an oil town.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near San Antonio: Austin (The Driskill, Congress Avenue Bridge / Austin Bats, &more), Fredericksburg (Wine Tours & Tastings, National Museum of the Pacific War, &more) and Dick's Classic Garage (in San Marcos). There's much more to do: explore the fascinating underground world of Natural Bridge Caverns, contemplate the long history of Mission San Jose, shop like a local with The San Antonio River Walk, and enjoy some diversion at Brackenridge Park.

For traveler tips, more things to do, where to stay, and other tourist information, you can read our San Antonio road trip website.

If you are flying in from Australia, the closest major aiports are San Antonio International Airport, Austin Bergstrom International Airport and Randolph Air Force Base. In May, daily temperatures in San Antonio can reach 36°C, while at night they dip to 22°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 25th (Mon) so you can travel back home.
