Maine's biggest and perhaps most vibrant city, Portland was established as a fishing village in 1633 and grew to become New England's largest port.
Explore Portland's surroundings by going to Nubble Lighthouse (in York) and Marginal Way Walkway (in Ogunquit). There's lots more to do: gain some tasty knowledge on The Maine Brew Bus, don't miss a visit to United States Custom House, enjoy the sea views from Portland Head Light, and take a stroll through Old Port.
