Kids will appreciate attractions like Disneyland Park and Santa Monica State Beach. Shop till you drop at The Grove and Amoeba Music. Venture out of the city with trips to Santa Monica (Third Street Promenade, Santa Monica Mountains, & more) and Anaheim (Disney California Adventure Park & Oak Canyon Nature Center). Pack the 13th (Tue) with family-friendly diversions at Universal Studios Hollywood. And it doesn't end there: enjoy the sand and surf at Venice Beach and Boardwalk, appreciate the extensive heritage of Hollywood Walk of Fame, look for all kinds of wild species at Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area, and see the interesting displays at The Getty Center.

You can do a combination of taxi and flight from Big Sur to Los Angeles in 4 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of taxi and train. Traveling from Big Sur in August, expect Los Angeles to be a bit warmer, temps between 34°C and 22°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 14th (Wed) early enough to travel back home.
