The capital of the United States, the District of Columbia contains the lion's share of the country's most treasured monuments, memorials, and public museums.
Step off the beaten path and head to Gettysburg National Military Park and Gettysburg National Military Park Museum & Visitor Center. Take a break from Washington DC with a short trip to The Christmas Haus in New Oxford, about 1h 50 min away. Spend the 21st (Tue) exploring nature at Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens. There's still lots to do: get engrossed in the history at United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, browse the collection at Library of Congress, appreciate the history behind National World War II Memorial, and stroll the grounds of Arlington National Cemetery.

A culturally diverse city situated on the shores of Lake Erie, Cleveland boasts many places to visit, such as world-class museums, popular amusement parks, and sprawling recreational areas.
Take a break from the city and head to James H. McBride Arboretum and Lake Erie Bluffs. Shop till you drop at West Side Market and Walnut Creek Antique Mall. Get out of town with these interesting Cleveland side-trips: Shearer's Company Store (in Brewster), Cedar Point (in Sandusky) and Pearl Valley Cheese (in Fresno). There's still lots to do: examine the collection at Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, stroll through The Mall, enjoy breathtaking views from Terminal Tower, and get into the urban bustle at Cleveland History Center.
