The Forest City

Maine's biggest and perhaps most vibrant city, Portland was established as a fishing village in 1633 and grew to become New England's largest port.
Venture out of the city with trips to Harris Farm Cross Country Skiing (in Dayton), Maine Maritime Museum (in Bath) and Popham Beach State Park (in Phippsburg). There's still lots to do: sample some tasty brews at The Maine Brew Bus, take in the waterfront activity at DiMillo's Old Port Marina, indulge your thirst for a good beer at Rising Tide Brewing Company, and sample the fine beverages at Maine Craft Distilling.
