Located on both banks of the Mississippi River, Minneapolis salutes the state's love of the outdoors with numerous lakes, wetlands, creeks, and waterfalls--many connected to one another by a national scenic byway great for sightseeing.
Visit Basilica of St. Mary and Historic Fort Snelling for their historical value. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Summit Avenue and Grand Rounds Scenic Byway. There's still lots to do: admire the masterpieces at The Museum of Russian Art, walk around Loring Park, get a sense of history and politics at Minneapolis City Hall, and examine the collection at Como-Harriet Streetcar Line.
