For most people, any mention of Orlando immediately conjures up images of sprawling theme parks filled with characters plucked right out of popular animated movies.

Stetson Mansion and Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse & Museum will appeal to history buffs. Have a day of magic on the 23rd (Tue) at Walt Disney World Resort. Pack the 25th (Thu) with family-friendly diversions at Universal's Islands of Adventure. There's still lots to do: explore the world behind art at Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art and get in on the family fun at Universal Orlando Resort.

Berlin, Germany to Orlando is an approximately 14-hour flight. The time zone changes from Central European Standard Time to Eastern Standard Time, which is usually a -6 hour difference. January in Orlando sees daily highs of 25°C and lows of 13°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 25th (Thu) early enough to drive to Crystal River.

The jewel of Florida's Nature Coast, Crystal River spreads around spring-fed Kings Bay, known for maintaining a constant 22 C (72 F) temperature all year long.

On the 26th (Fri), look for all kinds of wild species at Wildlife Areas, then take in the exciting artwork at The Glass Garage, and then explore the activities along Homosassa River.

You can drive from Orlando to Crystal River in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of shuttle and taxi; or do a combination of bus and taxi. Expect little chillier evenings in Crystal River when traveling from Orlando in January, with lows around 8°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 26th (Fri) early enough to catch the flight to Key West.

Located just 140 km (90 mi) from Cuba, Key West is an island only about 6.4 km (4 mi) long and 1.6 km (1 mi) wide.

Popular historic sites such as Fort Zachary Taylor and Truman Little White House are in your itinerary. Get outdoors at Key West Butterfly & Nature Conservatory and Vandenberg Wreck. Spend the 27th (Sat) exploring nature at Dry Tortugas National Park. Traveling by flight from Crystal River to Key West takes 3 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of bus, taxi, and ferry. Traveling from Crystal River in January, expect nights in Key West to be much warmer, around 22°C, while days are a bit warmer, around 28°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 31st (Wed) to allow enough time to drive to Marathon.

A tiny city just 16 km (10 mi) long, Marathon is spread across several islands in the middle of the Florida Keys.

Your itinerary includes some good beach time at Bahia Honda State Park and Sunset Park Beach. Take a break from the city and head to Sombrero Beach and Everglades National Park. There's still lots to do: identify plant and animal life at National Key Deer Refuge and explore the galleries of Crane Point Museum & Nature Center.

Islamorada, long recognized as one of the world's top spots for sport fishing, encompasses six islands in the Florida Keys.

You'll enjoy a bit of beach vacationing at Anne's Beach and Library Beach Park. Get outdoors at Theater of the Sea and Pelican Cove Resort. The adventure continues: immerse yourself in nature at Lignumvitae Key Botanical State Park, get engrossed in the history at History of Diving Museum, shop like a local with Michelle Nicole Lowe Art Gallery, and appreciate the extensive heritage of Indian Key State Historic Site.

Traveling by car from Marathon to Islamorada takes an hour. Alternatively, you can take a bus. In February in Islamorada, expect temperatures between 30°C during the day and 23°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 6th (Tue) so you can drive to Key Largo.

The northernmost island of the Florida Keys, Key Largo provides stunning scenery, a number of watersports opportunities, and plenty of areas to relax on vacation.

Visit Key Largo Baptist Church and Saint Justin Martyr Catholic Church for their historical value. Escape the urban bustle at Capt. Sterling's Everglades Eco-Tours and Scuba & Snorkeling. There's still lots to do: identify plant and animal life at Florida Keys Wild Bird Rehabilitation Center, get up close and personal with brilliant marine life at Island Dolphin Care, stop by Florida Keys Key Lime Products, and learn about winemaking at Keys' Meads.

Key Largo is very close to Islamorada. Traveling from Islamorada in February, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be little chillier in Key Largo, with lows of 19°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 9th (Fri) early enough to catch the bus to Everglades National Park.

A vast expanse of pristine wetlands, Everglades National Park holds the distinction of being the largest tropical wilderness in the U.S. Overflow from Lake Okeechobee into the Florida Bay formed these wetlands, which are home to manatees, American crocodiles, Florida panthers, and an array of wading birds, land birds, and birds of prey.

Step out of the city life by going to Shark Valley Visitor Center and Anhinga Trail. And it doesn't end there: hike along Gumbo Limbo Trail, tour the pleasant surroundings at Pineland Trail, look for all kinds of wild species at Mahogany Hammock, and contemplate the long history of Nike Missile Site HM-69.

You can take a bus from Key Largo to Everglades National Park in 2.5 hours. Traveling from Key Largo in February, plan for a bit warmer nights in Everglades National Park, with lows around 23°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 12th (Mon) so you can travel to Miami Beach.

Separated by water from the neighboring city of Miami, Miami Beach sits on a barrier island between Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.

Art Deco Historic District and Lincoln Road will appeal to history buffs. The Wolfsonian - Florida International University and Vizcaya Museum and Gardens are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Get out of town with these interesting Miami Beach side-trips: Fort Lauderdale Beach (in Fort Lauderdale) and Cypress Outdoor Adventures (in Everglades Wildlife Management Area). There's much more to do: kick back and relax at Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Church, take a leisurely stroll along Miami Beach & Boardwalk, and wander the streets of Espanola Way.
