In many ways much more Asian than American, Honolulu is Hawaii's largest city and its center of government, transportation, commerce, and tourism.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Lanikai Beach and Nature & Wildlife Tours. Step out of the city life by going to Diamond Head State Monument and Kailua Beach Park. Explore Honolulu's surroundings by going to Byodo-In Temple (in Kaneohe) and Haleiwa (Sunset Beach Park & Scuba & Snorkeling). There's lots more to do: see the interesting displays at Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum, kick back and relax at Waikiki Beach, stroll the grounds of National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, and buy something for everyone on your list at Ala Moana Center.

To find where to stay, maps, more things to do, and tourist information, you can read our Honolulu online day trip planner.
