Salt Lake City — 3 nights

Utah's capital and most populous city, Salt Lake City boasts a small-town feel, big-city amenities, and plenty of nature on its doorstep.
Get out of town with these interesting Salt Lake City side-trips: Mirror Lake Scenic Byway (in Kamas), Rocky Mountain Outfitters (in Midway) and Timpanogos Cave National Monument (in American Fork). Next up on the itinerary: take in nature's colorful creations at Temple Square, test your problem-solving skills at popular escape rooms, take in breathtaking views at Big Cottonwood Canyon, and pause for some serene contemplation at Cathedral of the Madeleine.

Cedar City is a city in Iron County, Utah, United States, 250mi south of Salt Lake City, and 180mi north of Las Vegas on Interstate 15. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Cedar City: Best Friends Animal Sanctuary (in Kanab) and Springdale (Canyoning & Rappelling Tours & Zion Jeep Tours). There's more to do: take in breathtaking views at Cedar Breaks National Monument Visitor Center and make a trip to Cascade Falls Trail.

Bryce — 6 nights

Serving as a gateway to the adjacent Bryce Canyon National Park, the tiny town of Bryce draws outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers all year round.
Get out of town with these interesting Bryce side-trips: Scenic Byway 12 (in Escalante) and Highway 12 Scenic Byway (in Torrey). Spend the 17th (Sun) exploring nature at Peek-A-Boo Loop. There's still lots to do: surround yourself with nature on Red Canyon Trail Rides, trek along Navajo/Queens Garden Loop, stroll through Navajo Loop Trail, and get great views at Sunset Point.

Drive from Zion National Park to Bryce in 1.5 hours. In July, Bryce is slightly colder than Zion National Park - with highs of 81°F and lows of 48°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 20th (Wed) so you can drive to Big Water.

Big Water — 1 night

Big Water is a town in Kane County, Utah, United States. On the 21st (Thu), look for all kinds of wild species at Paria Canyon Wilderness Area and then take in the dramatic natural features at Coyote Buttes.

Monument Valley is a region of the Colorado Plateau characterized by a cluster of vast sandstone buttes, the largest reaching 1000ft above the valley floor. When in Monument Valley, make a side trip to see Muley Point Overlook in Mexican Hat, approximately Mexican Hat away. Getting from Big Water to Monument Valley by car takes about 2.5 hours. Other options: drive. Prepare for slightly colder weather when traveling from Big Water in July: high temperatures in Monument Valley hover around 90°F and lows are around 59°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 24th (Sun) early enough to drive to Moab.
