Pittsburgh

— 26 nights

City of Bridges

Known primarily for its steel-related heritage and 446 bridges, Pittsburgh sits at the confluence of the Monongahela and Allegheny Rivers, which meet to form the Ohio River.
Step out of the city life by going to Mount Washington and Point State Park. Visit Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens and Heinz Memorial Chapel for their historical value. Get out of town with these interesting Pittsburgh side-trips: Fallingwater (in Mill Run), Kentuck Knob (in Chalk Hill) and Moundsville (Archive of the Afterlife, "A Paranormal Museum" & West Virginia Penitentiary). On the 14th (Wed), spend a day ambling around Mill Creek Park. Spend the 18th (Sun) exploring nature at Johnstown Flood National Memorial. There's much more to do: browse the different shops at Prime Outlets, look for gifts at FireFly Farms, see the interesting displays at Bicycle Heaven, and take a stroll through Strip District.

To find traveler tips, where to stay, reviews, and other tourist information, use the Pittsburgh trip website.

In August, plan for daily highs up to 80°F, and evening lows to 63°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 30th (Fri) to allow enough time to travel back home.
