Orange

— 27 nights
Orange is a city located in Orange County, California. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Irvine Regional Park and Elmer's Bottle Tree Ranch. Change things up with these side-trips from Orange: The California Route 66 Museum (in Victorville), Simpson Park (in Hemet) and Big Bear Lake (Cougar Crest Trail & Alpine Pedal Path). Spend the 12th (Sun) exploring nature at Cleveland National Forest. There's lots more to do: get to know the resident critters at Orange County Zoo, experience rural life at Rileys at Los Rios Rancho, take in the awesome beauty at Mount San Jacinto State Park and Wilderness, and enjoy the sand and surf at San Clemente State Beach.

Los Angeles to Orange is an approximately 1-hour car ride. In September in Orange, expect temperatures between 83°F during the day and 67°F at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 30th (Thu) early enough to go by car back home.

Embodying southern California's ambience of laid-back sophistication, Orange County is one of the state's most popular vacation destinations, offering year-round sunshine, beautiful golden beaches, and high-end shopping and dining, spread throughout several picturesque beach communities. Spend your holiday indulging at the region's oceanfront spas, designer boutiques, and five-star restaurants, or opt for a trip to the Disneyland Resort and Knott's Berry Farm. While known mostly for its luxurious amenities, the region is also a favorite among outdoor enthusiasts, home to several national parks and active marinas.
