You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Pacific Grove Oceanview Boulevard and Asilomar State Beach. Your itinerary includes some good beach time at Carmel River State Beach and Point Lobos. Go for a jaunt from Carmel to Capitola to see Capitola Beach about 54 minutes away. Next up on the itinerary: get interesting insight from Tours, stop by The Cheese Shop, tee off at Pebble Beach Golf Links, and cruise along 17-Mile Drive.

Jack London State Historic Park and Olompali State Historic Park will appeal to history buffs. Step off the beaten path and head to Balloon Rides and VJB Cellars. Explore Sonoma's surroundings by going to St. Helena (Pride Mountain Vineyards, Bale Grist Mill State Historic Park, & more), Calistoga (Bothe-Napa State Park & Ca' Toga Galleria D' Arte) and Robert Mondavi Winery (in Oakville). Spend the 20th (Mon) on the water with a fishing tour. There's still lots to do: stroll around Sonoma Plaza, view the masterpieces at Imagery Estate Winery & Art Gallery, take in the history at Mission San Francisco Solano, and learn about winemaking at Mumm Napa.

You can drive from Carmel to Sonoma in 3 hours. Other options are to do a combination of flight and bus; or do a combination of shuttle and bus. Traveling from Carmel in July, you will find days in Sonoma are a bit warmer (32°C), and nights are about the same (13°C). Cap off your sightseeing on the 26th (Sun) early enough to go by car to Jenner.

Jenner is a small coastal town and census-designated place (CDP) with a population of about 136 in Sonoma County, California, U.S. Point Reyes Lighthouse and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church will appeal to history buffs. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Armstrong Redwood State Reserve and Wine Tours & Tastings.
