In many ways much more Asian than American, Honolulu is Hawaii's largest city and its center of government, transportation, commerce, and tourism.
Visit Lanikai Beach and Ala Moana Beach Park for some beach relaxation. Get outdoors at Makapuu Lighthouse Trail and Manoa Falls. Go for a jaunt from Honolulu to Haleiwa to see Shark Diving about 54 minutes away. There's still lots to do: explore the different monuments and memorials at USS Arizona Memorial, contemplate the long history of Battleship Missouri Memorial, examine the collection at USS Bowfin Submarine Museum & Park, and get engrossed in the history at Iolani Palace.

Colombo, Sri Lanka to Honolulu is an approximately 25-hour flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 15.5 hours traveling from Colombo to Honolulu. Poipū is a census-designated place in Kauai County on the southern side of the island of Kauai in the U.S. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Wailua Falls and Na Pali Coast State Park. Visit Hanalei Beach and Shipwreck Beach for some beach relaxation. Change things up with a short trip to Waimea Canyon State Park in Waimea (about 56 minutes away). One of the island of Hawaii's major towns, Hilo contains a mix of Asian and Polynesian cultures and is known for its proximity to a national park encompassing two active volcanoes.
