Known as "The Yellow Rose of Texas," Amarillo was once a series of ranches.
Attractions like Cadillac Ranch and Wonderland Amusement Park make great kid-friendly stops. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Amarillo Zoo and Texas Air & Space Museum. Change things up with a short trip to The Charles and Mary Ann Goodnight Ranch State Historical Site in Goodnight (about 48 minutes away). There's still lots to do: admire the natural beauty at Amarillo Botanical Gardens, examine the collection at Bill's Backyard Classics, cool off at Splash Amarillo, and contemplate the long history of Harrington House.
