Relax by the water at Lanikai Beach and Kapiolani Regional Park. Explore hidden gems such as Kailua Beach Park and US Army Museum of Hawaii. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Honolulu: Banzai Pipeline (in Pupukea) and Waimea Valley (in Haleiwa). Noted for its low-key beaches, Kapaa is a small town with a high concentration of tourist-oriented hotels, shops, bars, and restaurants.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Na Pali Coast State Park and Catamaran Kahanu. Get a sense of the local culture at Waioli Mission House and Prince Kuhio Park. Venture out of the city with trips to Hanalei Beach (in Hanalei), Princeville Ranch (in Princeville) and Polihale State Park (in Waimea). There's lots more to do: trek along Kalalau Trail, immerse yourself in nature at Hāʻena State Park, kick back and relax at Shipwreck Beach, and take in the dramatic scenery at Opaekaa Falls.

Take a break from the city and head to Wai'anapanapa State Park and Napili Beach. Lahaina United Methodist Church and Baldwin Home Museum are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Venture out of the city with trips to Kihei (Maui Waveriders, Hawaiian Paddle Sports, & more), Haleakala Crater (in Haleakala National Park) and Hale Ho'ike'ike at the Bailey House (in Wailuku).
