Carmel

— 2 nights
Carmel-by-the-Sea, often simply called Carmel, is a city in Monterey County, California, United States, founded in 1902 and incorporated on October 31, 1916. Get outdoors at Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park and Asilomar State Beach. You'll enjoy a bit of beach vacationing at Pfeiffer State Beach and Lovers Point. Change things up with a short trip to McWay Falls in Big Sur (about 56 minutes away). There's lots more to do: tour the pleasant surroundings at Monterey Peninsula Recreational Trail, trek along Scenic Road Walkway, look for all kinds of wild species at Elkhorn Slough Safari, and stop by Kurtz Culinary.

To find ratings, where to stay, reviews, and more tourist information, you can read our Carmel trip itinerary planner.

Expect a daytime high around 64°F in April, and nighttime lows around 48°F.
