Trails of Legends and Adventures

The center of Cherokee culture in the eastern part of the country, the town named after this Native American tribe serves as a base camp for hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains.
Your cultural itinerary includes sights like Wheels Through Time Transportation Museum and Museum of the Cherokee Indian. Popular historic sites such as Oconaluftee Indian Village and Andrew Johnson National Historic Site are in your itinerary. Go for a jaunt from Cherokee to Hartford to see River Rafting & Tubing about 1h 10 min away. There's much more to do: get engrossed in the history at Mountain Farm Museum, take in the exciting artwork at Oaks Gallery at the Riverwood Shops, take in a show at Unto These Hills, and stop by Qualla Arts and Crafts Mutual.

To see where to stay, other places to visit, reviews, and other tourist information, use the Cherokee road trip site.

In July, daily temperatures in Cherokee can reach 83°F, while at night they dip to 62°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 28th (Sun) so you can travel back home.
